Four volunteers from VeloxServ were proud to take part in this year’s Compton Care Treecycling scheme, helping to collect and recycle Christmas trees from homes across the region while supporting a vital local charity.
The Treecycling scheme, now in its fifth successful year, encourages people to recycle their real Christmas trees after the festive season in return for a donation to Compton Care. Throughout January, the initiative is set to collect over 1,300 Christmas trees, with the aim of raising more than £25,000 to support people living with life-limiting conditions.
“It was great to get out and volunteer in the local community with my colleagues to support a scheme that makes such a positive difference to Compton Care, which is VeloxServ’s named charity. Between us the VeloxServ team collected 56 trees during our day of volunteering and everyone who took part had a lot of fun,” said Rob Tickle, Head of Marketing for VeloxServ, who was one of the volunteers from the company on the day.
VeloxServ’s team joined more than 20 volunteers from several local businesses, all giving their time to help collect trees and ensure they are responsibly recycled. Their efforts help Compton Care continue providing specialist care and support to adults and children across Wolverhampton, parts of the Black Country (Walsall and Dudley), South Staffordshire, and east Shropshire.
From navigating busy neighbourhoods to loading and transporting trees, the volunteers played a hands-on role in making the scheme a success. The funds raised will directly support Compton Care’s services, helping individuals and families receive compassionate care when they need it most.
A spokesperson for Compton Care said:
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported our Treecycling scheme this year. From the residents who donated for their trees to be collected to the volunteers and businesses who gave their time, your support makes a real difference. Thanks to you and your support we can continue providing vital care to people living with life-limiting conditions across our communities.”
VeloxServ is proud and always keen to support initiatives that make a positive impact locally, and the team was delighted to play a part in a scheme that combines sustainability, community spirit and charitable fundraising.
As the Treecycling scheme celebrates its fifth year, it continues to grow in impact – proving that a simple act like recycling a Christmas tree can help change lives.
